The interview was only scheduled for 30 minutes with the CAO, which is not enough time for proper discussion between both interviewer and interviewee. During my 30 minutes I never received the proper background on the team or the job itself as we spent majority of the time diving into technical guidance related to foreign currency accounting I had from a prior job. The interviewee gave no background as to why he was spending so much time on this area, given their company didn’t appear to have foreign currency exposure reported in their financials. I have deep expertise in this area and thought I explained thoroughly, however the company came back and passed on me as they indicated I was light on my responses to accounting concepts. However I felt the interview was too light on the areas you would normally address, which is giving a complete background of interviewer and interviewee, providing background on the job and company and giving the interviewee time to ask questions.
