I was contacted by a recruiter, 2 phone interviews were set up. They asked a lot about SDLC and at the time I had no idea what SDLC was but did some research answered the interviews and was hired. First they told me that training was going to be 3 weeks then they changed it to 2 weeks and I found out when I was leaving 2 days before I left. HR is all over the place with this company-this cannot be stated enough (they do eventually get everything figured out it just takes awhile), So I flew out to AZ for training, it was very helpful since I don’t have an IT background (recent MBA grad) once in AZ they assigned you to a project. BTW I wasn’t relocating for the job, but a lot of my colleagues from Training were and they were pretty upset about the relocation policy it seems like they all took a bit of a hit financially moving. Training was over and I got assigned to my project. It’s my third week on the job at the moment, so far it’s going good. It’s like I don’t even work for Syntel anymore though, the way I describe it to people is that I work for the project (top 5 credit card company) and just get paid by Syntel. It should also be noted that we were all college hires and we were hired for Business Analysis roles, but not all of us end up in a BA role. My role got changed to a Business Architect which is essentially the same as a BA (slight differences), but some friends of mine from training were placed into programming roles and they had no IT background. They said it wasn’t that hard to learn, but still if that was me I wouldn’t have been happy. This is my first job out of college and overall it’s been a good experience and a great resume builder and it pays well. I just wanted people to know what they were getting into because I had no idea what to expect.
