I applied online. I interviewed at Avalara in Nov 2023
Interview
Received an aptitude test followed by one interview . Then the recruiter ghosts you even after you following up. I wouldn’t advise wasting time here as the HR act pricey
I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Avalara in Jul 2025
Interview
One word: boring.
There were three rounds of interview, I made it to the final round and after each and every round I received ZERO feedback other than 'you did great'. I tried to press and ask what they thought I did well, and still nothing, just 'generally did well'. The confirmation emails from their Senior Talent Partner who organise my interviews were abysmal – no personality, no candidate care, no attempt at all to try and link in the company's values and branding.
Interview confirmation emails were:
"Hi X,
Your interview with X will be on dd/mm.
Good luck"
Honestly, just so impersonal and never once trying to engage candidates in any way. I really wish I'd read other interview process reviews before going through with mine; it's all the more galling to have sat THREE interviews and got to final stage to not only not receive an offer after three rounds of "you're great!", but to not even tell you any feedback to led to you not being hired.
I also asked for each interview to be given some insight on what to expect, with an always generic: "standard competency questions". Not only was it not that, some interviews felt very off-the-cuff and the final interview was added in last-minute and the interviewer didn't even know if they were the last person I'd meet in the process. The whole thing felt incredibly disorganised, not inclusive and borderline disrespectful of candidates' time and energy.
The GTM Sales leader I met, Carlos, was great and really passionate about hiring well and mentioned on several occasions how he feels the TA team aren't doing enough and aren't attracting quality candidates well. It is now no surprise whatsoever that he feels this way given I now have first-hand insight into how the TA team engage and treat candidates.
Honestly, unless you really have nothing else better to do, do not accept an interview from this company. They will waste your time and bore you to tears in the process.
