I received an e-mail from an Avaya recruiter with various dates and times for an interview. My first interview was a phone interview with two hiring managers. I interviewed for the roll of Senior Program Manager. An initial discussion regarding the roll took place, then it was turned over to myself to provide information on my background, skillset, and experience. Questions were then exchanged between myself and the two hiring managers. One question in particular to me was to describe my definition of the difference between a project manager and a program manager. For others interviewing for a Program Management position, my advice would be to come prepared with an answer to this question.
Approximately two weeks later I received a request for a second phone interview. The second phone interview was with the manager of the two hiring managers I had spoke to previously. That interview went extremely well and I was offered the position that very afternoon.
I had an opportunity to negotiate salary for this senior level position.
