Whole process took about a month. First interview (phone) with HR went great. Second interview (phone) with the hiring manager also went great. They then flew me up to Chicago midweek (requiring my PTO at my current employer). I met with the CIO and multiple other individuals; they gave me an elaborate office tour, spoke on all the great perks of being there...really sold the gig. Immediately after returning home, HR contacts me and asks my final salary expectations, and to please inform them if anything develops with another employer as things are looking “highly favorable for you”. A couple days later they ask to meet over phone. At this point, I’m expecting an offer (who sets up a phone call to inform you that you’re not receiving an offer). They informed me they went with another candidate. Completely blown away, I asked if it was something I did or said, or anything I can respond on? They literally said “no, you were perfect, we’re just going another route”. Be careful with this company, they are not afraid to lead candidates on with extreme positive reinforcement; and also do not give any consideration to wasting the time of candidates.
