I had a fantastic experience as a candidate through the phone and FTF interviews, and established excellent rapport. A week later the HR contact hinted I was first choice and would follow up in a week. Three weeks later on New Years Day I get an generic depersonalized form email announcing I wasn’t selected. Fair enough, but under the circumstances a line or two indicating why is expected and welcome feedback, and critical to job hunting. With a pleasant demeanor I call the HR rep and it was like she’d never heard such a thing, but promised to get back to me before the weekend. I call Monday and get different HR rep. I’m understandably annoyed and bewildered by the contemptuous attitude toward disclosing this simple bit of information. I was a (if not the) top candidate so a discussion between the hiring manager and a second PM must’ve occurred and still be relatively fresh in mind. The original HR rep calls me a day later obviously annoyed with the duty and tells me I “wasn’t a good fit for that particular agency”, which is absurd as I competently held the exact same role in the exact same Department and Program of a different agency, hence why I was a top choice. Without a doubt more time and mental energy was expended giving me the runaround and a nonsense reply. The equivalent of a forthright 30 second discussion is all I was looking for. It’s all so counterproductive and tiresome. I’m forced to conclude The hiring manager is sociopathic, smug, and pompous. A typical millennial. I’m certain I dodged a bullet.
P.S. - Less anyone suspects a case of sour grapes, I’ve never in my life been compelled to post a negative experience about a company nor any product, let alone one so detailed.
