The first interview consisted of an on-campus one-on-one with a recruiter. The questions revolved around teamwork and leadership. There were general questions about the banking industry and recent events ("What contributed to the mortgage crisis of 2008?"). It was relatively low-key and structured. A week or two later I was invited to take an online Caliper assessment (a good 45 mins to an hour).
Another week or two later I was invited to a two-day interview in Winston-Salem, NC. They flew the recruits in and put us up in a hotel. You had to pay for the flight up front, but are reimbursed three weeks after the event. There were about 40-60 people interviewing for the program, ranging from undergrads to MBAs, and a variety of backgrounds (mainly finance and accounting, but some liberal arts).
The first night we had an introduction to the program, a tour of the facilities, and a dinner/networking event.
The second day consisted of four rounds of interviews. First, a 10-min roleplay (you have to convince a customer to stay with the bank) and behavioral interview, a writing exercise ("What are the two strategic initiatives BB&T should focus on for next year?"), a case study, and finally another behavioral interview. It is a long day, but is manageable.
I heard back within a week with the decision.
Process took about 2 Months. You first have a phone interview, the 2nd round is in Winston-Salem. You have an essay, behavior interview, presentation on BB&T and a panel during lunch.

Had an on campus interview and was asked to come to HQ for a second interview with a 2 day turn-around. I received an email that said that they were interested in hiring me and setting me up with their direct hiring manager and then I never heard back. Getting any information from them before or after the interview was nearly impossible.

I received an invite to interview on campus for this position via my college email. After working a long shift the same night that I had received the interview invitation, I awoke the next morning and tried to schedule an interview and realized that all the interview slots were full. I was disappointed about this and managed to receive an offer for a phone interview a couple months later.
