      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at BELAY

      Interview

You begin with an online application, which is quite lengthy. Next, you will be asked to record yourself via video responding to four questions. If you are selected for an interview, you will meet with a recruiter for your first interview where they ask you typical interview questions. If the recruiter wants to move forward, they will schedule a time to send you a skills assessment, which takes 2-3 hours to complete. You have to make in international travel itinerary as well as answer questions pertaining to your Administrative Skills. If you "pass" the skills assessment, you will have a 2nd/Final Interview. I was offered a contract in the Final Interview, but not told my rate of pay until a couple of days later. What they DON'T tell you is that you will then have to apply and interview for each client you want to work with. Passing the initial interview process feels like the easy part compared to what you face after you are offered a contract. Here is the process for applying to work with clients, after you are offered a contract with BELAY. 1. You have to complete the BELAY 101 course and attend an hour long webinar before you can even start applying for clients. 2. You then have access to the job board where you can look for clients you'd like to work with. 3. You have to apply for each client, but they ask that you only apply for 2-3 at a time and wait 1-2 weeks before applying for more. You answer two questions on each application. 4. Once your application is submitted, if they are interested, a Placement Coordinator will contact you with a 5-10 minute phone call to get to know you better. 5. If they like you, they will send your name on to the CSC for review. If the CSC thinks you may be a good fit, you will get an email with the name of the client/company, as well as a link to a "Discovery Call" with the client, that you are required to listen to, take notes on, and think of questions about. 6. You will then schedule a 30 minute interview with the CSC to discuss the job in more detail. They will ask you questions, and they expect you to have questions and to show a lot of excitement about the client. 7. If they select you, then you will have a "Kickoff Call" with the client and you finally get to start with them. It is a LONG process. BELAY expects you to do a lot of work to prep for each interview, and it becomes discouraging very quickly when you keep getting told that you weren't selected for the client because they have a "gut feeling" about one of the other applicants. Be prepared to have a lot of patience in this process.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We know it is a challenging process and we truly want the best outcome for all involved. We remain encouraged by the number of contractors who, once they are matched with a client, thank us for the time we dedicate as a team to find the right match for each client and contractor. Thank you for all you do!

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at BELAY (Atlanta, GA) in Apr 2026

      Interview

The interview process was very professional, yet relatable. Their Talent Expert asked great intro questions about my interests, skills, background and what led me to apply for this role. She listened very intently and took notes. After exchanged questions, she explained the hiring process. BELAY has an entire Client Success team who's dedicated to matching the ideal candidate (VA) with their client and advocating for the VAs. Overall, the experience was pleasant. I was offered the role and gladly accepted. It can take time to find the right client, but if you want a remote role with room for growth, this is where you want to be.

      Interview

Easy process, the rep was fast and willing to negotiate salary. There is not an option to apply for higher paying VA roles. The overall organization model is inspiring. The organization corporate unfortunately is in person and not virtual.

Thank you for taking the time to share your interview experience, and congratulations on accepting your offer! We’re grateful you chose to partner with BELAY and are encouraged to hear that the process felt smooth, responsive, and positive overall. We’re glad your Talent Specialist created space for open conversation, including compensation expectations. While contractor pay ranges are aligned to specific service lines and contractor experience levels, there are opportunities for growth throughout your time at BELAY. You also mentioned our corporate structure. BELAY is a fully remote culture. Most of our corporate team members work remotely. Our contractor community remains fully remote, serving clients across the country. We’re thankful you found the organization’s model inspiring. The mission—to serve both clients and contractors well through flexible, values-driven work—is what continues to guide our growth. Welcome to BELAY. We’re excited for what’s ahead in your journey with us. Warmly, The BELAY Team

      Interview

Belay process is tedious. The initial application is the biggest hurdle, it is a long process, with tests and video responses. Once you get past that you meet with someone for a zoom interview. That process was simple a communication to see if you fit what they are looking for.
