BELAY Virtual Assistant interview questions

It was an extremely long interview process. I started with a 1 hour video interview with a recruiter. She told me that she was going to submit me and that I would hear back soon. After 3 weeks and a few emails, I finally heard that they were going to move me to the assessments phase. That consisted of 5 days of assessments, some were up to an hour. I was told that I passed my assessments and invited to a final video interview that took approximately 30 minutes. The entire process has taken a month and a half and I was unceremoniously rejected the next day without a clear reason. I feel that they wasted my time and if I wasn't a fit candidate I shouldn't have had to do the final interview. Honestly, I have a master's degree and have worked as a professional for over 10 years. If that makes me unqualified than so be it. Their loss...

The interview process was lengthy and involved, but not terrible. I was offered a contract, but did not contract with the company. My biggest issue is that they require you to give notice at your current employer BEFORE you even get to SEE the contract, which is very shady and risky to me, but poses no risk to them. The matching process with a client can also take up to 12 weeks, during which you will NOT be paid and you are not permitted to have another job during this time. Technically, as a 1099/contract position they are not legally able to keep you from getting another job but both recruiters I spoke with said I had to quit my current job to contract with them and I would have to be prepared to be without income for up to 12 weeks. And what happens after 12 weeks, if you still haven't been placed with a client? Belay terminates your contract. The pay scale is $14-$18 an hour, based on experience, education, and the interview process. I will say, I know people who are currently VAs and very happy, but I don't think Belay is worth the risk and lack of income. They are essentially a middle man between you and the client, and paying you $14 an hour when they are likely charging the client $30 an hour. Not that I blame them, that's how business works! But, it's something to keep in mind, as well as remembering that the entire process is set up to be high risk to you, and all reward for them.
