Applied online, heard back quickly (<1 week) and scheduled HR recruiter screen. Went well until the last question — “what are your compensation expectations?” Their job listing did not specify a salary range, but stated it was “competitive.” The actual salary range for this position was significantly lower than industry standard. They sent me the technical assessment anyway, which was a Microsoft Form with a bunch of SQL and Python questions. Sprinkled throughout the form were nonsense questions meant to catch people using AI. It was easy but very long. Wasted 2 hours on the assessment just to get rejected because my compensation expectations were at the highest end of what they were offering for an entry-level position. Do not waste your time interviewing here if you are looking for genuinely competitive compensation!
