I was reached out through good ol' hardcore headhunting by the Director for this opportunity after a client meeting with Banker's and my current employer; I do admit, they have a wonderful pitch; 100k salary + 10% bonus, full remote, great benefits, and they're a solid, fast-growing technology company. It sounded too good to be true; a dream job for me at this point in my career. I had to hear it out.
I got deep into a casual and shockingly easy interview process when, before I had even completed the final interview, Bankers did a backdoor reference without my permission. This got back to my current place of employment, and my lucrative, six-figure position was immediately jeopardized. I have since been fired from my current position due to their internal leak (they currently are a client of my company and several people on this team are former employees of my current place of employment, so the lines must have crossed from there).
When my current place of employment found out, they threatened my job unless I provided full transparency (which I did), and it went straight back to Bankers. I called him to tell him that my employer had learned that I was interviewing there and that they were absolutely outraged; He went from saying at lunchtime, "Calm down! Who cares? You legally applied! I'm not worried about what they think!", while then sending follow-up texts saying, "Have they terminated you yet?", to rescinding a verbal offer (I was verbally offered within 10 minutes of our first conversation, again, blatant red flags from the onset), to absolutely ripping me apart as a person by the end of the day; He followed up with me just three hours after confirming my final interview and said that they're no longer interested in my candidacy.
Instead of leaving it at that, he then insisted on informing me of my supposed short-comings throughout the process, and said, paraphrased, "Your inability for confidentiality shows the true color of your character, and I would never want a person like you on this team." Meanwhile, a good portion of his team are people that had very little success (as well as scathing reviews) when they were working at my current employer earlier in their career. Hilariously ironic.
Truthfully, the entire process showed incredible red flags before it even commenced; This company openly betrayed the confidentiality of my candidacy and then blamed me; I have first-hand proof of their backdoor reference, which seemingly apparently leaked to my current place of employment.
DO NOT consider this opportunity if you are currently employed; This was single-handedly one of the most traumatic professional experiences I've ever had - they will think nothing of jeopardizing your current employment and then will blame you for their transgressions. Speaking with BHG has single-handedly turned into the biggest professional mistake of my entire career.
