Was given a project to complete with front end technologies, then had a phone screen with talent acquisition, then a video technical interview call. TL;DR the communication between the candidate and within the company is terrible, and I received no feedback on my project as others have mentioned I only put that I had a negative experience because the all-around communication is awful. After receiving an invite to complete the project, I responded by asking a couple clarifying questions and for a due date. No response. I brushed it off assuming because of the holiday, people were slow to respond. Unsure of when it was due, I finished it as quickly as possible, despite not having had my questions about the requirements answered. A while later I received an invite to a phone screen call with the talent acquisition person. This call went well and a couple hours later was sent a date and time for when the technical interview phone call would be. They didn't ask me for my availability, they just gave me a date/time and asked me to confirm. I accepted and was given the name of the person I was to interview with next. The talent acquisition person told me the interview would consist of live coding, questions about front end technologies/languages, and questions about background and skills. She let me know the coding was "most likely" going to be algorithm/data structure based (she was not able to get in contact with the team in time to let me know, so this is what she assumed based off of past interviews). I spent the majority of my time before the interview brushing up on my coding, as it had been a while since I was required to know this stuff for a front end interview. When the interview starts, it's not the person I was expecting. The interviewer tells me she has taken over for the other person because he's sick. Not the worst thing, but some sort of notification about the change in interviewer would have been nice. I could tell the interviewer was unprepared and she acted as if she did not want to be interviewing me. There were awkward pauses throughout the interview while she (seemingly) googled questions to ask me. When I didn't get something right, she was short with me, almost as if she was bothered by the fact that she had to spend time interviewing someone who couldn't answer her questions. I don't believe this was completely her fault because she probably didn't know until just before that she would be interviewing me. Either way it made for a very uncomfortable interview and while it was my own fault that I couldn't answer many of the questions, being surprised by a different person with no warning just added to my stress. I don't know if it's because of the last minute interviewer change or if the talent acquisition person just didn't know, but the interview consisted of almost nothing that was mentioned. There was zero coding involved and zero questions about my experience. She nor anyone else ever brought up the project I was asked to make in the very beginning. That being said, despite the bad communication, my talent acquisition contact was very kind and as helpful as possible throughout the process and I really appreciated that.
