I recently had the displeasure of enduring what can only be described as one of the most unprofessional and disrespectful interview experiences of my career. From the moment one of the interviewer who is a "partner" stepped into the room, it was abundantly clear that the interviewer's demeanor was nothing short of rude, obnoxious, and condescending. Firstly, they didn't bother introducing themselves, leaving me to guess who they were until well into the interview. Their lack of basic courtesy set the tone for the rest of the interaction. To compound matters, they showed up late, leaving me waiting in the lobby well past the scheduled interview time. Their tardiness forced me to switch interview rooms, inconveniencing not only myself but also others waiting to use the meeting room. It was a clear indication of their disregard for others' time and a blatant display of unprofessionalism. Throughout the entire interview, this individual displayed a level of conceitedness that was frankly astounding. It was as though they believed themselves to be the arbiter of all knowledge, looking down their nose at me with disdain as if my mere presence was an inconvenience to them. Their tone was consistently patronizing, and their questions were delivered with a thinly veiled air of superiority. Instead of fostering a constructive dialogue, they seemed intent on belittling my accomplishments, my education background and demeaning my experiences. To make matters worse, they interrupted me repeatedly, cutting me off mid-sentence and talking over me as though my input was of little consequence. Adding insult to injury, during the interview, the interviewers even resorted to mocking my application form amongst themselves while I was in the midst of discussing my qualifications. It was clear that they had no respect for my time or my perspective, and their behavior left me feeling demoralized and disrespected. Overall, my experience with this interview was nothing short of abysmal. Their rude, obnoxious, and condescending demeanor made it abundantly clear that they have no place in a position of authority, let alone one tasked with evaluating potential candidates for employment. I would like to perceive this experience as "bad luck" and that other interviewers in the firm would have been more professional.
