I was contacted by a recruiter and scheduled for an interview, under the guise that I would be interviewing for a management position with base salary. I made it clear that I was not interested in a commission based role. When I attended the interviewing session, I, along with several other people, was given a presentation tailored for agent recruits. During the presentation, the regional manager told us that he could hire some as agents, some as managers, and some as management trainees. during the "one on one interview" the manager made no effort to vet my faculties, but instead read the concerns I had listed on the provided questionnaire and proceeded to try to talk me out of my valid concerns, i.e. sell me the job I made clear I was not interested in in the 1st place. they later called me and offered me an agent position, to which I responded "As I previously stated, I am not interested in a commission based role. Your recruiter had said I would be interviewing for a management position." (which I am more than qualified for) He responded by cutting me off with "AH AH AHH!.." (yes he literally did that) "Given the fact that you have not been employed with us before, we are unable to offer you a management position at this time." He continued to say that my personality profile lead them to believe I would be a great fit long term and that I should feel free to call should I reconsider. The entire processed was rehearsed, rushed, and impersonal. It is nothing more than a farm system and subsequent sales pitch for entry level agent recruits. Those who indicate that they are not interested in commission based roles will be mislead to believe that they are interviewing for a non-commission based role in order to get them in the chair so Bankers Life can try to sell them on what they are not interested in.
