At the beginning the interview process was smooth and easy, HR screening call went great, then on to the next step directly with the hiring manager with whom I really connected with and she decided to move me to the final step, a step that some may consider a checkmark, the "leadership assessment", a lengthy, convoluted online test that will decide if you're going to be a good leader or not. Did great on it, and then, the waiting game, 10 days passed by and nothing and finally a note from the recruiter saying " Hi, I unfortunately have some disappointing news. BW let us know they have decided to pass on you for the role. Culturally speaking, they feel you are an awesome fit. They would consider you for other internal opportunities, but for this particular role your assessments came back portraying that you didn’t project a sense of urgency in the leadership alliance assessment. They want us to STRESS to you that you are very much a culture fit for BW and they will absolutely consider you for roles down the road, but particular climate on this team wasn’t a great match. " REALLY? I connected with the people but not the machine?
It is unfortunate that an assessment will trump a real interview and the impression of the hiring manager. I told the recruiter to tell them I was grateful for the opportunity but please do not share more roles from BW with me, I won't work for a company that values convoluted assessments more than people interaction and impressions.
