Very negative experience with the phone screen recruiter. Firstly, I applied a long time ago without a reference and wasn't even given a chance despite being a 100% match for the job requirements. Then, I found one reference from my contact and applied with it. Everything else was the same, yet suddenly, I was granted a phone screen interview. Once the phone screen started and I gave my background, she discovered that I have an accent. The phone screen recruiter suddenly lost interest and became robotic, merely replying with 'yes,' 'okay,' and stating she would pass my information on to the hiring manager and let me know. This kind of attitude is never seen in the professional sector. It was a very unwelcoming attitude towards those who possess an accent and have other racial backgrounds.
