When I went in and asked if they were hiring, they handed me an application. I filled it out and returned it in a few hours. As I handed it in, the manager immediately signed me up for an interview. I wore a casual but stylish shirt, skinny jeans, and my knee-high flat boots. The interviewing manager was wearing pretty much the same thing. She asked me the usual questions, "what did you do at previous jobs that would help you here, are you okay touching peoples hands," etc. She said she loved my style and attitude, and my long-running knowledge of the company and product. She said that she'd love to have me and signed me up for orientation. She let me know about the dress code (white shirt, dark blue jeans, boots, flats, or close toed heels.) and sent me on my way.
The orientation was a bit... less what I expected. I knew I'd be watching videos, maybe doing a workbook, etc. But in reality I was stuck in the crowded stockroom, which was freezing, she popped in a DVD and then disappeared and I was left to figure out the TV and finish by myself. It took about four hours, by then I was shivering and starving. The workbook was long but easy to follow.
All in all, a painless and mostly pleasant and basic process. Just make sure your store has some sort of heating in the training room!
