Interview process was rushed, but long. I went through 7 interviews total. I applied in December to one location, had a phone interview with a recruiter within 48 hours based on my online application. From there, a phone interview was set up with a regional HR manager for my area, which was arranged within a week. Next interview was face-to-face with DM. Originally this was scheduled for just 2 days after the HR interview, but they had to reschedule, so it was drawn out another week. Interview went well, although they went with another applicant and said they would keep me in mind if something else came up. I figured that was a nice way of saying they weren't interested.
Surprisingly, they called back 7 months later when another opening was available. Interviewed with a different recruiter, another HR manager, then a neighboring DM all by phone, and all within 1 week's time total. Final interview was with a local store manager in person.
Overall questions were reasonable, asked a lot of situational questions regarding how you measure success, how you train, how do you evaluate your employees. There is a big focus on constant training, development and recruiting. In the early phone interviews, also a lot of questions regarding what type of sales metrics you've been previously responsible for, how did you achieve those goals, how have you exceeded goals, etc. Fairly standard for any higher level management position in retail.
