The interview process was a typical interview. I applied for the position via Belk's website, which also consisted of a series of online psychological questions that were required before the application could be submitted.
Approximately three days after I had submitted my application, I was contacted by Belk's talent acquisition person for a phone interview, which she insisted to have the very next day and was for about 30 minutes. I was then quickly scheduled for a 30 minute phone interview with the Sr. Manager, Global Trade and Customs Compliance. I was then scheduled to have a skype interview with the same Sr. Manager, Global Trade and Customs Compliance and the VP of Vendor Compliance and Product Sourcing. About 1 week after the skype interview, I was contacted by the talent acquisition person who informed me a local candidate was offered the position.
Doing some research on LinkedIn, I found out the person who was hired for the position, and based on the time this person shows as starting employment with Belk, it is apparent the hiring persons at Belk had either already offered the position to this person or already planned to do so, even though they interviewed me. That is just a despicable and disrespectful thing to do to me or any other job seeker. As I am unemployed, I need to concentrate my time and efforts applying to and interviewing for employment positions that are actually open !! This just shows how selfish and disrespectful Belk is to candidates seeking employment with their company. It is of little wonder why Belk has such a low employee rating on Glassdoor and other employment review websites. If they treat prospective employment candidates with such disrespect, imagine how crudely and disrespectfully they must treat current employees.
