I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Belk (Silver Spring, MD) in Sep 2014
Interview
Very straightforward and simple, while covering all the routine basis. Went over resume, gaps, pay, signed some legal paperwork. Some questions were asked about work/life balance and if it was understood retail can be a bit chaotic and demanding. Willing to increase starting pay with well explained reasoning and negotiation. Nothing inappropriate was asked, such as marital status, do you want children, etc.
I was a referral and had a brief discussion with the manager and got the job relatively easily. I think getting this job was one of the easier jobs I was able to obtain. However, this was back in 2010.

Question 1
They asked me what my availability would be since it was around the holiday season.
One Interview with the department manager for a sales position. Super short, simple, and to the point.
I received the offer same down and then had to schedule onboarding with Human Resources.
It was your basic questions. Went fine. Nothing too detailed but it was for a base position at the holidays. They were looking for anyone dependable with a car basically.
