I applied through college or university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Berenson (New York, NY) in Nov 2013
Interview
Applied through my college; the first round was a group interview conducted by a first year Analyst who had been on the job for less than 3 months, and a 2nd year Analyst, so I would imagine its a very subjective screening process. The second round interviews were mostly a rehash of same old IB questions, asked by senior professionals over and over again: Why IB (despite the low quality of life), why this company + what a banker does on a daily basis. One of the interviews was a fairly technical one but I suspect that was only because of my prior finance experience. The premium put on technicals was quite low actually. The place had a visible gender imbalance in the employee workforce and the culture felt a little snobbish. There was only one female finance professional as far as I could tell. Despite repeatedly following up, they never gave a final decision, which is excessively rude and unprofessional on their part. Fortunately I landed better offers so I did not bother with them again.
Started with a technical round with an analyst over zoom, then met with 2 VP's, ended with a super day (4 different interviews). Overall not too difficult and good people.
two 30 min interviews with associates, then progress to super day (seven 20 min interviews). all over Zoom, a few basic technical questions (valuation methods), mostly behavioral questions about my experiences. It seems like they put a lot of emphasis on culture fit
