      Front End Lead Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Best Buy in Jan 2015

      Interview

Waste of time... Applied online and took at least 2 assessments. Got a call about 3 weeks later asking to do an interview with the Operations Manager. Went in to do that interview. He was nice, but told me over and over again that he was tired of doing interviews and the interview only lasted about 10 minutes. I asked him when I would hear back and he said the next day. Next day comes and goes and I hear nothing. I called the store the next day and asked for him and he said "well you were my favorite, but I'm waiting for the general manager's blessing". Within about 5 minutes of that call I got an e-mail and phone call back to set up another interview with the general manager... This is for a entry level position by the way. I actual had a doctors appt the day they wanted to do the interview, but the store manager was being very inflexible. She wanted the interview at 12pm and my doctors appt was at 1145 almost 30 minutes away. So, since I really need a job I rescheduled my doctors appt to the next day to go to the interview. I arrived at the store about 10 minutes early and I was told to sit at a random card table in the corner by customer service. When I interviewed with the Operations Manager he took me to a back conference room to talk. The Operations Manager told me that the Store Manager was off today, but she was making a special trip to interview me. I saw her walk into the store (from her big picture beside the check out lanes) and go to the back. She walked in right at 12pm (the interview time). I assumed that she had to run to the back to get paperwork or something, no big deal. It then took her 15 minutes to make it back up front.... VERY unprofessional. She then came and sat down at the card table and I was starting to stand up and she said "no, we're interviewing here". So, we actually had the full interview right beside customer service beside the bathrooms with a ton of people coming and going and customer service associates just staring at us. VERY uncomfortable and unprofessional. The store manager was very off putting and not very friendly. She barked out the questions non stop but didn't really have any replies when I asked a question. Her interview lasted about 15 minutes. I then asked when would I know either way about the job and she said by Wednesday of this week (this was on Monday) if not sooner. I even got an e-mail from the Ops manager that said the same thing. Fast forward to today (Thursday) and I still haven't heard. I hate companies that want you to start yesterday, but can't tell you what's going on... EITHER WAY... I sent an e-mail to the store around 2pm today and haven't heard back. I checked my job status on the job portal page this morning and it said "under review". An hour or so after my e-mail to them (I was very nice) it now says "no longer under consideration". What a WASTE! It's not the fact I didn't get the job, I just didn't like the way they lead me on like I was the sure thing and then didn't contact me to tell me I didn't get it...

      Interview

After you pass the assessment you will receive a phone interview. After passing the phone interview you are scheduled to interview with the department manager, after passing that interview you meet with the GM of your location. Very basic questions about scenarios and how to deal with difficult customers.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Best Buy (Rockford, IL) in Nov 2019

      Interview

The interview process was unprofessional in my opinion. I've interviewed twice for Best Buy at two different locations. First time I turned down the second interview, second time I didn't make it past the first interview. It starts with a phone interview with the hiring manager's assistant (not actual title, but pretty much what they are). I don't know if it's Best Buy's thing to do surprise phone interviews, but the first time I interviewed with Best Buy they called me about a week after I applied. When I answered, I assumed he was going to ask what time would be best for an interview, but no, he started the phone interview right then and there while I was in the process of heading out the door. I asked if we could continue this later at a better time, and he said no, if we don't do it now I will not be under consideration anymore. I turned down the second interview. Second time I interviewed for Best Buy a couple years later at a different location, something similar happened. Best Buy called me and left a voicemail as I was working at my current job. The voicemail said she would call me back in 3 days to do the phone interview. Not giving me a time or anything. I tried calling back but she didn't answer. Then 2 days later, not 3 days, she calls me again unexpectedly while I'm at work and starts the phone interview. Not only was I annoyed but I was distracted with my answers as I was doing a phone interview next to my coworkers which is awkward. I wasn't offered a 2nd interview this time, but after these experiences I don't think I will consider Best Buy for a career anymore. If the hiring process is this unprofessional and inconsiderate, imagine how working under managers like this would be.
