      Store Manager Interview

      Jul 6, 2009
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Big Lots in Feb 2009

      Interview

One-hour phone interview w/ HR from corporate office, followed by a face to face w/ DM in a store. That interview lasted over an hour, thought it went really well ( he spoke about what I would need to do when I started, etc.). The DM was rather crude, cursing during the interview ( a little too informal?) I was told that I would hear something by the beginning of the next week. I never heard anything yes or no. Tried to followup by phone and email - no response. When the position was still being advertised two weeks later, I sent in another resume. Got a call from the same HR guy who interviewed me. When I returned his call, he would not pick up (caller ID I suppose). He did not answer my calls or emails. I can only guess that he had called me the second time in error. Very unprofessional to not tell someone yes or no.
