Communications with the company was done through the university. I received two interviews from RIM. They were very different. The first one was a lot more serious, for a Java developer position. I had 15 other students competing for the position and was the first one interviewed. It was a very pleasant interview, the questions were relatively easy compared to other interviews. The second interview was fun, I got along great with the interviewers and ultimately received a job offer from them. They were very laid back and friendly and I had a great time. The questions were easy (to me at least), any 3rd year student would be able to answer them so long as they paid attention to the first two years of classes. They ended up having to ask me programming questions that were unrelated to the job position, just because they had to give one "at least one question I couldn't fully answer". It was just one phone interview for both positions because it was for co-op. Advice to future candidates: Make sure you study OOP very well. Just be yourself.

The interview was more difficult than expected for a co-op role. Questions spanned multiple unrelated domains, with sudden shifts between topics such as embedded systems and web development. This approach felt somewhat unstructured and made it harder to understand what the team was actually prioritizing in candidates. Requirements to the questions were unclear.
