I wasn't sure to write about my experience or not, but today I saw that other experiences were even worse than mine, so here we go. Recruiter reached out to me, she was nice. Nothing to complain about her since she just follows orders. We had a short call, and then, like many average companies out there, I was asked to do a PHP home assignment. The assignment was to convert a homepage design into PHP. Note: it was pure html/php, nothing related to wordpress I of course said no, since I'm a freelancer, and I have paying clients, and I was also completely booked. It's not fair that a company gets work for free while the rest of my clients pay. I don't care if they use the work or not, it's unfair. But I proposed alternatives, for example showing a complex personal project and also offered a reduced rate to complete the task. But nope, company replied with something along the lines: "test is mandatory because we need to test people quickly" That's just a way to say that they're looking for yes-men/wage-slaves. Also keep in mind that they hire you as a freelancer, so you can forget any sort of regular employee contract unless you're in the US. By the way, this company had negative reviews on glassdoor some month ago, now these reviews disappeared and they're all perfect. That's quite unrealistic for any type kind of company By reading the rest of the reviews here, I feel like I've dodged a bullet
