I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Block (Waterloo, ON) in Jan 2018
Interview
I was contacted by the recruiter and was then passed on for a technical screen. The interviewer was pleasant and asked me an impractical backtracking question. She was not even from the team I applied for. There is absolutely no way anyone could have come up with a solution for that without memorizing it off of Leetcode. I struggled for a bit and could not get the answer.
The next day I got an update saying they have decided to move on with other candidates with an experience which better aligns with their requirements. At no point were the requirements communicated with me. At no point did the interviewer talk to me about my experience.
Maybe the requirements are your ability to memorize trick questions off of Leetcode so that a few people forced to interview can tick a few check boxes. What an utter waste of time.
Inital take home, followed by extension interview, followed by a coding challenge, followed by system design interview.
The whole process took 3 months!
The interviewers are usually really nice and want you to do your best.
The interviewer was nice, and he is friendly and willing to give hint, the question has 2 follow-ups, it was hard to complete in time. The question was not a typical LeetCode
Phone screen and then a full day of interviews. 3 pair programming challenges, a system design review and a prior experience interview. There was also an onsite lunch with a person from the company.
