Interview
Absolutely horrendous candidate experience! From the condescending RC team to the recruiters I dealt with.
To start, I was given a writing "challenge" assignment which felt more like soliciting free labor from candidates than a genuine assessment, with a 45-minute time limit and only 24 hours to complete it during a long holiday weekend. I normally wouldn't bother proceeding with a role that requires this but went ahead anyway.
Then came the recruiter screenings which were booked TWICE on the wrong day/time zone, which I had to solicit these changes. A candidate shouldn't have to use your brain for you to book interviews at a logical/reasonable hour for all involved.
After having the schedule changes, I had two phone 30/60-minute long screens with recruiters who were very rude and sounded disinterested in screening me. I could literally hear TV/pets in the background. I had to send several follow-up emails to get cryptic responses and nobody seemed to know what the other was doing. The disorganization of this team is beyond disgraceful and I'm right to say that because of the weeks of radio silence (strike 2).
Finally, I get scheduled for a final panel interview with the wrong time zone and request it to be rescheduled AGAIN! This interview only happened after I signed an NDA and was 2.5 hours long with a sourcer, RC, and two managers, The managers seemed either too full of themselves or preoccupied and dissociated (dressed in yoga attire!). The associate-level employees were fine, but again the arrogance is unfounded.
The kicker? After all that, I had to goose-chase my main point-of-contact and two other schedulers for updates and in return, I received a canned template rejection email response. No personalized feedback after soliciting/wasting 6+ hours of my time. Never again!
The role has been reposted and some other poor schmucks will be roped into this sadistic process.
I expected way better from Square- if you work in HR/People Ops - PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE avoid this dumpster fire of a team/company.

I applied online. I interviewed at Block (Charlotte, NC) in Dec 2024
Interview
Applied for the position, received an invite for a 30 minute interview and showed up to the interview with no one there, waited 45 minutes was there early and stayed later but nobody showed up to interview or responded to my emails when I tried to follow up about this situation, this was very extremely disappointing, disorganized and unacceptable!

Question 1
Did not a ask me anything because the interviewer never showed up or responded to my emails
Interview process was seamless. Recruiter and panelists were all very knowledgeable and welcoming. The whole process was the fastest out of any company I've applied for. Took less than a month to get an offer.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Block
Interview
The first conversation was a phone screening with the recruiter, who was friendly and informative. Expect any and all communication after this step to take a huge pause. It's been almost 3-weeks since our initial phone call, and the recruiter never got back to me. I followed up and it was simply stated he is still finishing interviewing other potential candidates. If you are just going to drag great candidates out like this, you will definitely miss great talent. The job market is constantly changing and moving, and they are giving the impression that anyone is replaceable. I also previously interviewed for a different role - Executive Assistant - and the same scenario. Ghosting. Although the company seems promising, their ghosting policy is a big big red flag.
