I interviewed with both a corporate recruiter and the hiring manager by phone within one week. The recruiter was very pleasant to talk to and asked basic questions. There was a lack of understanding by the recruiter about some of the high level requirements of the position which I discovered while later talking to the hiring manager. For the most part the recruiting process expectations were clear at the beginning.
The phone interview with the hiring manager seemed a little rushed from the start. Questions were average to a little challenging. This was for a new position and it seemed like the role responsibilities had not yet been established well enough for a potential candidate to know what they might be doing.
The hiring manager stated I would hear back one way or another from either her or the recruiter; this did not happen. My email to follow up with them received no response. I would expect that a phone interview with a hiring manager deserved even a generic response to a potential candidate. I would classify Blue Nile as one of the 9 out of 10 companies that just don't get the value of a quality recruiting process. Yes, that's only 1 out of 10 companies in my lengthy job search experience over the years that have a solid recruiting process.
