I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Boeing (South San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2023
Interview
Initial phone screening with recruiter, followed by a phone interview with the manager, and onsite tour and interview with the hiring manager and team. The recruiter was very pushy. They disregarded my availability when setting up the interview. They also called me 20 min after the first phone interview trying to get me to plan the flight after working hours, on a Friday, without getting time off from my job. When I said I would email her later she questioned my excitement to the position and if I was taking it seriously. The first onsite interviewer was incredibly rude. He claimed I had no work experienced, referred to my projects as course work, and implied that I was making up work experience. When I corrected him he disregarded me. The technical question he asked me made no sense and he was visibly upset when I was confused. I interviewed with a total of 5 people. Ignoring the rude one, two of the others asked me the same questions which also showed a lack of coordination, preparation, and interest in the interview. One interviewer stated that they don't typically hire PhDs who recently graduated which lead me to wonder why they bothered flying me out. If interviewing with Boeing I would recommend staying firm with your availability and making sure they are seriously considering you before going to the onsite interview.
