Question 1
Questions about machine learning and data science + exercises about statistics + machine learning application
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Boston Consulting Group in May 2026
Interview
First, I was invited to an online coding assessment. I had 90 minutes for 4 tasks. This was really intense and I barely managed to get the minimum requried points, but I passed.
Next, I got a call from my HR ref and we talked about the position and application process. Then, I was invited to two technical interview cases, both lasting an hour.
The first one was good, my interviewer was really kind and it felt more like a conversation than a hard test. Nevertheless, there were many things I did not know. He helped me out with questions and hints, but it felt like I did not perform well. The case was about improving the predicted demand of goods for a supermarket so the storage would not overflow and the the supply would not run out too fast. I had to find good metrics and recommend machine learning models to solve the problem. For the ML model, he really drilled me with how exactly to implement each feature I proposed.

Interview
Very Professional, everything is planned in advance. The process is:
1- HR Call (30min): Introduction, why data science in consulting and why BCG X. Schedule your technical test.
2- Technical Online Test (90min): Probability Theory (easy & hard), ML MCQs (easy), coding questions (pandas, sklearn). Be very fast, and memorize the syntax.
3- Two Technical Cases (120min): Start with live coding (leetcode style), then the case: optimization modeling (could be ML also).

- Test: Probability Theory, ML Theory, Data Processing with Pandas (cleaning, manipulation, transformation…), Model Fitting (Sklearn).
- Interviews: Leetcode, then technical cases: optimization modeling (constraints, variables…) and ask relevant questions at the end.
