It was pretty standard and straight forward. I never heard back from them after my second interview. Obviously assuming that they chose a different candidate, which is totally fine. It would have been nice to be notified but with COVID19, I think it should be taken with a grain of salt and lowered expectations.

It took more than a month for HR to contact me for a phone screen. She asked questions about my experience and then asked what pay I was looking for. No surprise, the pay is extremely low compared to other universities. I expected that since Chapman and Brandman are notorious for lower than average pay. Just look at the other reviews on here. I was then invited for an in person interview the following week. HR told me to prepare a 5 min demo showing how I would explain something to someone. It's very informal and brief, followed by a panel of 3 people asking very thorough questions. Lastly, they send you to a computer lab where they give you a writing prompt. The instructions that the interviewer gave me did not match what was on the writing prompt so that was very confusing. Basically, you choose from a list of situations and show how you would respond through email correspondence. I think it is pretty standard interviewing style for an academic advisor position however I can only imagine that this position would be suitable for a new counselor trying to gain experience. Keep in mind that you are providing advising only over the phone and through emails so you have to be comfortable with that. Also, you work in cubicles so it is noisy. I don't know how you would be able to hear yourself let alone the student.
