The first initial call was a screening called to see if I would be a good fit. It went good, the next week I was contacted to do a chat simulation with two people to see how I would handle multiple chats at once. This took up an hour of my time and it went good. The people were friendly. The next week I went through round 3 of the interviewing process, which was the last round, but they did have me interview with 2 people on zoom for 30 minutes and then one other person for 30 minutes after that. The first interview with the 2 people went smoothly and they were very friendly. However, the final interview felt like an interrogation more than an interview. And despite me having all of the qualifications, it seemed like the interviewer was trying to nitpick the smallest things. It felt a bit invasive and awkward. I knew that last round that I would not get hired just because of how the interviewer was asking me questions. I came prepared with my answers, but it seemed like my answers were not good enough and they wanted a deeper explanation on the answers I was giving when my answers were already pretty in depth. I knew he was going to convince the rest of the team not to move forward with me, despite me doing very well on all the interviews. Not surprisingly the next week I got a rejection email. It is very frustrating that companies like this are allowed to take hours of your time and put you through multiple rounds at the end of the day not make you an offer. People are just trying to feed their families and make a living. It’s pretty crazy things like this happen when you have the skills and do very well, but one interviewer can decide to not move forward. I think it is important to post this and be transparent about the experience to help future candidates.
