An internal recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn, and we discussed the position. I connected with the hiring manager the following week for an informal meeting to talk about the team. Finally, I interviewed with four employees in the office - two team members, and two from different teams. Most of each interview was spent talking about the role, how other teams interact with the role I am interviewing for, and details about my background and my role with my current employer.
Shortly after, I was told that I would be receiving an offer for the position. About a week later, I was told that someone intervened and said that a senior actuarial associate must be an ASA. However, the BH recruiter knew that I was near-ASA as did the whole interviewing team. The job posting clearly says "ASA or near ASA required" (the job posting is still up as I am writing this). I was then offered an Actuarial Associate position with pay well below the discussions we had throughout the entire interview process.
While the interview process was very smooth, and the interview itself was easy, the company does not appear to "have its ducks in a row."
