I applied online. I interviewed at Bronx Defenders
Interview
They are very interested in equity, and provided most of the questions beforehand. With that said, the interviewer was clearly trying to avoid any bias, and as such they gave very little in the way of responses during the interview. It didn't feel like a conversation.
The interviewing process is designed to be very transparent, with little deviation from a set of scripted questions. I did two interviews. The pre-interview was no more than 20 interviews with one staff member, and the second interview was 30 minutes with several staff members. They provide questions in advance and hewed pretty closely to that script. There is a scenario/role-play component to the second interview (talking through options with a client). Like all interviews, the process can feel a little intimidating, but the transparency and providing resources in advance was helpful.
