I had been told by a friend that they were hiring and she picked me up an application. Not long after, I went to drop it off with my resume. I was asked to take a seat so that a manager could speak to me. After a few minutes, the manager came over and greeted me. She explained to me the positions they were hiring for, and gave me a piece of paper that basically described the job in more detail. After I read it, she gave me a short interview. The entire time she was writing down notes. I was asked a variety of questions about my own personal style and where I shopped. I left the interview feeling great. I felt like I really clicked with the first manager and as if it was more of a conversation than an interview. She told me that they would get back to me within the next few days to schedule an interview. According to her, the management team meet up to discuss applications on Tuesdays. Two days later, I got a call to schedule a second interview. At the second interview, I felt as if I went in confident and prepared. I was asked to take a seat as they finished up another interview. A woman came out to greet me and guided me to the back room. She introduced herself and another manager and I was asked to take a seat. Let me tell you, this interview was just awkward. . . Nothing like the first. The second manager I was introduced to didn't even really engage in the interview. She was silent the entire time, writing notes, and whenever I would try make eye contact, she wouldn't even look my way. I got the vibe that she thought she was better than everyone else. . . It seemed like the first manager was reading all of my interview questions off of a sheet of paper, and just waiting for me to stop answering the question so that she could move on to the next. They were a bit unfriendly and seemed like they didn't really want to hire anyone at all. At the end, they thanked me for coming in for the interview and asked me to fill out two sheets of paper (which had several columns of personality traits listed). The first one said to mark all of the traits that you think you are expected to have while on the job, and the second said to mark all of the traits which you felt truly described you. They claimed that this was in order to determine what kind of training you would need if you were to get hired (which seemed like a lie to me). They also asked me to sign some forms saying that they were allowed to contact two previous employers and ask them the questions on the form. I left the interview feeling extremely judged by them, and not in a professional way. They told me that I would hear back by Tuesday (interview was Wednesday), to see if I would get another interview. Four days letter they basically sent me a rejection letter in the mail. They seriously couldn't even call me? How sad, apparently they would rather type out a letter and waste a stamp on me, than speak with me.
