      Sales Associate Interview

      Oct 1, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Trafford Park, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Build-A-Bear (Trafford Park, England)

      Interview

Handed in my cv and got an email asking me to come in for a group interview a few days later. About 38 people turned up. We were told that they had 15 vacancies and were conducting 2 more group interviews. We were asked to stand up say our names and an interesting fact about ourselves. At which point the mangers stood at one end of the room and moodily told us that they had not heard a word anyone had said after about four people had already spoken. Then we were split into groups of about 8 people and given four tasks. The first being the bean game which mainly involved getting the group, which were all female to jump up and down and jog on the spot. Then in the accessory/clothes area we were given scenarios like, shop for a boy who likes blue and has no budget. We were then asked to explain our choices. Then at the front of the store we were given more scenarios and asked to pick bears that reflected our own personalities and then bears that reflected the opposite of our personalities. We were given more scenarios like find a bear for a 11 year old boy or your own grandparents. Another task was to come up with ways to personalise the heart ceremony by talking to the person next to us for a minute and coming up with an action that was personal to them, eg I made a motion like a plane because my partner liked travelling. We were also asked to come up with something by going off the teddies themselves, they included cookie monster, beast, pikachu, a monkey and a traditional bear. Whole thing took about an hour and a half. In the end the interview structure itself was practical-ish and different. I felt that some of the staff did seem nice but a few were rude and I would not have wanted to work with them. Not sure what the next stage would be like.

Standard interview process, only I feel like they told me too much information about current employees, and to not even give me the second interview they said they would reach out to me for.

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Build-A-Bear (Stratford, London, England)

      Interview

Group Interview with around 14-20 young girls, very awkward. Had to do group activities, was given hints that I’d get a call back and heard nothing from them. Also the first thing we were asked to do was SING our favourite karaoke song which was very awkward and some good candidates lost points because of that alone,
