I applied through email after seeing positions for casual workers at a new Build-A-Bear kiosk that was opening, for a 4-month contract. A couple of days later I received a phone call from Build-A-Bear, where I had a brief phone interview. The girl asked questions like, 'why should we hire you' and so on. After the phone interview I was invited to a group interview a couple of days later in one of the stores, which I attended. A group of about thirteen of us were there. The interview was super casual and chilled; we all sat in a circle with three of the managers asking questions, and we either went around the circle with our answers or had to take initiative and put up our hand to give answers. It was really relaxed and a pretty positive process. They told us that the four successful applicants would be contacted the following day, but the unsuccessful candidates would not hear back. I got the phone call the next day to tell me that I had been successful. My advice would be to establish yourself as a really confident, friendly and outgoing person, and don't be afraid to give some light-hearted answers - as long as you still take the whole thing seriously. They're looking for people to work with kids and who are just really fun and enthusiastic, so show them that you're like that. For example, when asked what my weakness was, I said 'puppies, I just can't resist them!' Overall, a really chilled interview process, it was quite an informal thing. I started working about a week or so after getting the phone call.
