      Sales Associate Interview

      Sep 17, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Build-A-Bear (London, England) in Sep 2015

      Interview

I had a 2 hour group interview on a Sunday (approx 20 of us) at the Covent Garden branch, most were young college/university students applying for their first jobs, had 2 managers and 1 supervisor introducing us to build-a-bear. We had to firstly form a circle and do an ice-breaker challenge where we had to say 3 things about ourselves. 1) Name 2) What we do 3) What we had for breakfast. After that, we had to speak to 2 people around us and find out 2 facts about them, then we had to form a circle again and go round telling each other what we learnt about one another. We were then given 10 seconds to choose any outfit/accessories and then at random be picked to try our best to sell the item on the spot. After that we had to make up a 30 second advertisement about build-a-bear, after that it was time for the individual scenario trials. Everyone had to stand outside, as each one of us was to act as a sales associate (Taking in turns) 1-2 of us outside would be given a random customer role and enter the shop to test the seller. After another half hour, we had to fill in a form about our contact details and availability. We were told that we will get a phone call within 2 days, got my call within the next 4 hours after I went home saying they wanted me in for a store trial and 1:1 the following week, had my trial then had to do a personality quiz on their system, then had a 1:1 after a 20 minute break giving time for the results to be calculated. The entire process was very very informal, I was told I had to wait maybe 2-3 days before they tell me yes or no, the manager phoned me during the same evening after the trial and gave me an offer. Will be having my induction soon.

      Interview

Standard interview process, only I feel like they told me too much information about current employees, and to not even give me the second interview they said they would reach out to me for.

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Build-A-Bear (Stratford, London, England)

      Interview

Group Interview with around 14-20 young girls, very awkward. Had to do group activities, was given hints that I’d get a call back and heard nothing from them. Also the first thing we were asked to do was SING our favourite karaoke song which was very awkward and some good candidates lost points because of that alone,
