Referred to this position by a recruiter. I had 1-2 long conversations with HR (more like an interview than a phone screen), and an hour long video chat with the Chief of Staff. I was told by my recruiter prior to the video chat that it would be the toughest step in the process with very few candidates making it past this round, but the questions themselves were not overly difficult. All of the conversations I had were informative and vibes were positive. I thought I did very well. I was asked to provide writing samples (which I prepared) as well as references (which I typically don't send until an offer is being prepared, but had them ready anyway) but was advised by recruiter not to send. I reached out directly to HR for an update/feedback after recruiter did not respond to my status update request, and was told they're hiring a more local candidate. I'm unsure if/what I could've done better and was hopeful for the opportunity, but it did not end up working out.
