I applied online. I interviewed at Burns & McDonnell in May 2023
Interview
Had to reschedule due to one having family emergency. I went into detail of what my current responsibilities are. I was told by the recruiter that they were looking for someone with a lot of Word experience so I went into a good amount of details on some that I do. They didn't seem to really care about that type of stuff so I almost feel like they misinformed me. I asked a few questions that they tried to run around. How did COVID change the company? They said that people now expect everything to be hybrid but they don't. They require everyone in the office Monday to Friday. That was a definite NO for me. They feel that people take advantage of working from home and aren't as productive. In my experience that's the opposite. Living in a city where traffic is a nightmare remote work is the new normal and most preferred. I then asked what is one issue you'll would like for this person to resolve? They said they just need someone to fill the role. This gave me the feeling they're pretty desperate and the person who left the role didn't exactly leave on good terms.

Question 1
The standard tell us about your previous work experience and why you want to work here. The person that is filling in for the role asked "if you could be given any role what would that be?" I stated just give me enough work to fill out my day with a title that matches it and I'm fairly content. I have no goal to be in a leadership role I just want to find a place where I can learn and grow.

Very straight forward, questions about computer knowledge and experience and wanting to get to know me as a person. Very easy, no need to overly prepare. As long as you have actual experience in excel, word and other Microsoft platforms you should do good.
