This was the most unprofessional interview I have taken in my career. I only have experience in this industry and more than 4-7 years of it that this role states. I was told that I would not be a good fit, because they are looking for someone with 4-7 client facing experience which I had. I have ran a book of business of international clients worth >$50M. My current role is a little different, but my fit was assessed from just that and was dealt with in the most inappropriate way possible. I was told that they "know logistics" and that I am more operational and would be better fit for an ENTRY level beginner sales role which is exactly what my first role out of college was. I graduated 8 years ago while having internships in international freight forwarding during college.
I was very familiar with this company and wanted to ask about their warehousing as I have a client with an immediate need for a long term $10M warehousing project as well as a client that has consistent air freight shipments worth up to $200K in monthly volume. I also wanted to see which other services aligned with my current clients, but did not even get the chance.
I got a word about about warehousing and was told that its not related to their business? Why is there a huge warehousing portion on your website? Then again, it could have been an effort to quickly dismiss me as the same was said when I brought up potential airfreight business for a current client of mine.
This may have been a blessing in disguise, but I was fully prepped for this interview, with a ton of questions queued, just to have my day ruined in 5 minutes flat. In the future, please take the time to listen to the candidates and be patient. I have never felt devalued in an interview until today. Nobody should have to experience what I did.
