The interview process is normally initiated by the hiring manager getting the reference of the candidate either internally or through the consultants via HR. The hiring manager would then ask someone from the his technical team to take the first round of technical interview (normally telephonic), where questions about your experience, projects might be asked. The interviewer would also evaluate you on various non-technical areas such as communication skills, your willingness to adapt etc. The next round is done by the hiring manager (face to face if possible), to evaluate the person more from the behavioral perspective, and to discuss the salary and other details. HR team would then take it forward from there based on the review from the hiring manager.
