The overall actual interview went well (minus some very odd questions.) The main thing I want to bring attention to is something unethical that they did and I would like others to not repeat the same mistake as me. They assigned me a test project as the last step in the hiring process. While I do understand the need for a test project, it verges on becoming unethical when you don't offer any compensation and the hours are excessive. This was no small project and it was completely unpaid. I spent 25 hrs working as quickly as I could to complete the 4 required deliverables. I received a quick note from the recruiter complimenting the work and then weeks later was notified I did not get the job. I asked for feedback and was completely ghosted. Since we didn't discuss payment, I just took the loss and chalked it up as a learning experience to never do this again. Companies need to stop this practice of taking advantage of candidates time and effort who are just trying to get a job. It is very exploitative.
