I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at CVS Health (New York, NY) in Nov 2023
Interview
Application I applied through a recruiter. I got an interview within 3 days. Interview: Let me just tell you, that was hands down one of the worst interview experiences I’ve ever had! The first round is live coding and its for an hour and the interview was on teams. The SQL questions were ridiculously tough, and don’t even get me started on the coderpad environment. It had so many issues, I couldn’t even run my CTEs. The interviewer was so unprofessional. She wouldnt even listen to my introduction properly. She cut me and she jumped to the coderpad round. she asked me to join the coder pad video and audio call and told me to mute myself on teams. Also the SQL questions was timed which i was not told before. She gave me 3 question and timed it for 12 minutes. There were 4 tables with name mem1, mem2, RSK, clm - wouldnt i want to understand what they are? At a point my interviewer ended the live coding test and told me that i muted my teams when i was told to do that. We had the coderpad video and audio call running. She simply told me i muted my voice and she said "You didnt do the queries so i wont move forward in the interview". The interview was scheduled for an hour but she ended it in 24 minutes. Worst experience ever. They set me up only to fail on purpose. Very unprofessional
The phone screen was surprisingly in-depth, lasting about 40 minutes and focusing heavily on real-world applications of data science. We discussed model development, particularly for predicting hospital readmissions, which was quite challenging. I had just practiced a similar scenario on PracHub that mirrored this section almost flawlessly. Following this, I went through a technical round where I tackled questions on feature engineering and demographic fairness. Ultimately, I received an offer but decided to decline it after weighing my options.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you build a model to predict 30-day hospital readmission risk for chronic patients? Walk through your feature engineering using claims and prescription data, model selection tradeoffs (logistic regression vs gradient boosting given explainability requirements for healthcare), how you'd handle class imbalance (around 10% readmission rate), and how you'd evaluate fairness across demographic groups before deployment.
Easy Chill, comfortable, wasnt difficult, more on health and pharmacy stuff,
Interview was friednly and accommodating, overall i would say good experince, the process was smooth, But applied with out reffereal
I applied online. I interviewed at CVS Health in Mar 2026
Interview
Interestingly, the first round was with AVP, and he discussed many mathematical concepts.. The second and third rounds were on the same day, for coding and case study. One week later was VP interview with behaviors.
