      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Canon Canada (Calgary, AB)

      Interview

I'm an Implementation Consultant working for 6 yrs for a major Health Software provider.Due to some personal reasons i thought of applying for this post at Canon,Calgary. I applied online via the canon website, i was given a call by the Hr in Calgary the phone call was for around 20 minutes,he asked me about myself and my current profile he asked me if i was available for a face2face interview on Monday the next week.I took a day off and showed up at Canon right on time @ 11:00Am,i waited till 11:20 ,finally the Hr appeared ,took me to the side room and went through my profile,I explained my job profile and health software i train and install basically EMR and Pharmacy software. The Hr them explained what Canon does and their software is called 'uniflow'. (apparently its a very complicated software than an EMR software) ,anyways he said he will call me back. That very afternoon he called me saying "okay i discussed about you with the Manager in Brampton and she is very interested to meet you for a 2 round".I was thrilled ,the Hr said he is planning for Tuesday next week @11:00 Am MST, after 30 minutes he calls me back saying "hey there is some confusion and we have to move it to 12:00 MST" (i didn't want to miss the chance so i said "YES for sure " .(again im thinking Man .i need to book another another day off). I showed up at 12:00 on Tuesday the following week, upon reaching there the girl at front desk says "oh i don't see any appointments for today, are you sure ?" I waited for the Hr again 15min or so ,finally he shows up says"oh i had send an email and we decided to cancel the interview coz of the weather" apparently he sent me an email (i checked my phone yes he sent me an email 20 minutes before and i was on the road by then ,yes it snowed a little that AM LOL) , but then he says "the meeting is at 13:00 not 12:00" i showed him the appointment on my calendar..he finally admitted may be me mucked up with the time zone. He asked me to wait and after 15 minutes he said yeah contacted the Manager and we can go to the boardroom for the tele/video conf .I got to the room and Hr cant get a live stream from Brampton finally after struggling and me helping out with the live conference we got the video stream after 20min ,but we found the audio was not working ,So then he went and sought help frm the front staff girl coz apparently only she knows the conf line # and participant code. She tried and found out there is an outage with all their ph lines at last after fighting with technology we came online (i was so fresh for the meeting but imagine the ordeal almost 60 minutes dealing with canon coz someone cant do things in order) Her video was blur and audio was feeble Interview started and guess what !! her phone rings and she says "oh i need to take this" and leaves the interview with me hanging and im here losing my fluency (which is already out of the window) and now im under stress.I forgot to mention a lot of things i had prepared She asked a few questions on what i do and what is my job profile. She was asking me questions as to what my experience is and what do i do .. you know the usual stuff but i could tell she has no idea of what i do or my profile or have seen my CV. The interview ended in 30 minutes , she said "we will let you know", Fine - i said .

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Two days later Hr calls me "Good News you are selected for round3 and for the next round you need to do a demo ,A software that you train on now or something like Canon UNIFLOW ,It should not be more than 10 minutes and not too much technical and not more than 15 slides, do the demo in simple eazy English" and i have to appear 30 minutes before the intended time and he gave me a week to prepare(so now i have to take my 3 day off) coz my company wont let you take half day ... I dont know UNIFLOW and i though it would be stupid to train UNIFLOW to the same people who knows the software, but then i cannot show EMR coz thats a few hours of training so i came up with an add-on module its usually a 1 hr training module , i made it short with 15 slides. The D day came ,i was again at Canon on time like the Hr said 30 minutes before the intended start time which was 14:00 coz they need to hook up the projector . The front office girl said ill have to wait coz its not time yet and there was another interview going on ... finally at 14:10 ..they called me in ,there was no Hr but a new guy in (he said he is sales Manger from Brampton office) and two people on the video conference, the Manager who took my 2 round and another Manager (GUY).The said you dont need a projector just show it on the laptop and (they had a copy that i had sent them early) -( IN HINDSIGHT THAT WAS A FLAG THEY WERE NOT INTERESTED). The demo started and i see the Woman-Manager was listening to me , but the other 2 guys were very disinterested one was even doing something on his laptop and never looked at my face.. They asked a few basic questions about the software demo (you know pass time). She said excellent job with the demo and will call back .A week later the Hr guy calls, says "i dont know what to say but the Manager didn't pick you, instead we found a person who has more experience in UNIFLOW" (the white guy who was interviewed before me). I said "thank you (for nothing HAAAA) for letting me know". this was my experience with Canon . I had read on Glassdoor about people commenting about how bad the management is ..i felt it hands-on how terrible it is . I was more interested as the office was close by my house (the pay was standard as im getting now around 60 k) and 50-75 % travel
