I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Canonical (London, England) in Jul 2022
Interview
Psychometric tests are outdated in general & subjective. Not a best practice approach.
First recruiter screen was pleasant but I was concerned when the recruiter couldn't give me an answer on team culture. The JD didn't indicate that the recruiters don't headhunt, screen, arrange interviews or process offers. The recruiter also didn't mention this. The business has to shoulder this workload whilst TA polices them which is not a structure I can understand or have ever seen in my career.
Second interview with Hiring Manager was not managed well. HM talked about themselves for close to an hour before criticising test results in the last 10 minutes. I was asked no competency questions. The tone of the call was quite cold. When she explained that TA don't actually recruit (the first time I'd been informed of this) she then criticised me for not knowing or for having known the CEO owned other companies.

Question 1
"Why couldn't you get a higher result in Maths on the psychometric test? Didn't you understand the questions?"
I am dyscalculic but as the HM was very critical in her tone, I wasn't comfortable explaining my learning disability. Nor that knowing I have this, I triple check any mathematical work I do to ensure I get it right. I have managed extremely large budgets successfully. It felt the psychometric tests are exclusive and don't account for the specific role someone has applied to.
