I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Metairie, LA) in Feb 2013
Interview
Initially, I was contacted by an out-of-state recruiter to schedule a phone interview. On the day of the phone interview, she asked typical retail questions and at the end said that she would send a link to take a skills test online. After completing that test, the next day I received another call from the same recruiter to schedule an in-person interview a few days later. Arrived at the interview site and it was a two-phase interview. First I met with an HR lady and then with the regional manager. Typical retail questions again--plus a lot of personal, get-to-know-you type questions..nothing that I didn't feel prepared for or that I couldn't answer off the top of my head. It was very similar to the phone interview with the recruiter. That same day, I got a call from the recruiter again saying that they loved me and were going to offer me a starting pay of $12.22 an hour. I began completing my paid training the next week. They tried to place everyone as close to their home branch as possible.

Question 1
Why, after all of your experiences in very different organizations do you want to be a teller and why Capital One?
I applied for a teller position. I received an email with a link asking me to take a teller test. After completing the teller test, I get a second email. The second email has a link that showed me my application status. My application status said that I was being scheduled for an interview. After a couple of weeks I tried getting in contact with their staffing department but the response I would get is either to wait or I would get no response at all. After two months of waiting, I get an email telling me that I've been declined for the position even though I was told I was going to be scheduled for an interview. Afterwards, I closed my credit card account with them because they basically lied to me. I sent a follow up email to the staffing department letting them know that I closed my account. They called me and they told me that once someone passes the test, they get the status that says that they're being scheduled for an interview, and they'll move on if a recruiter feels that an applicant is qualified. So in short, I was qualified to be told I was getting an interview, just not qualified enough to actually be given the interview.
A phone interview followed by an in-branch interview with the manager included generic questions regarding the role and the teller experience. Had to wait approximately 15 minutes before being seen.
HR recruiter performed phone screening in order to set up phone interview. During the phone interview you are asked questions based on experience. The also let you know which locations are hiring. Then there was a physical interview with the Branch Manger of another branch. Once passed, there was a scheduled phone interview with Branch Manager of the desired location.
