I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One in Oct 2014
Interview
I have been working contract positions at Capital One for some time. Though I submitted myself though the standard corporate on-line job site. For anyone who is contracting looking to convert to full time, it is best to not rely on your direct assignment to convert you, but to leverage your knowledge to apply to other positions with in similar groups.
For the most part I got initial responses to on-line submissions (either good or bad) within a few weeks. For this particular position I was contacted by the internal recruiter about two weeks after my initial submission. End to End the process took about 4 weeks from contact offer.
CapOne does to a preliminary verbal and math reasoning assessment. That would add a week to the process. However once taken it is good for 24 months. I had done mine a few months ago with regards to another lead. This test isn't too hard, but take time to go over the prep material to get an idea what it will ask.
The rest of the interview process is fairly typical one or two preliminary phone screens then if all looks well, the on-site. The phones screens are mostly technical fit with one or two behavioral/situation questions. The On-site process will then be multiple one-hour sessions. Some of them technical fit, and some Behavioral. The Behavioral Interview (BI) idea allows a third party person assess your fit to working at Capital One. However, the hiring manager has final say on any offer, so the third party BI provides an advisory to the hiring manager.
Taking time to be persistent with multiple opportunities is a good idea. Two positions may share the same title and job functions, but each group has its own flavor.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The formal Behavioral interview procedure can be a bit of a shock. But if you have a collection of stories regarding success, failures, troublesome co-workers and persuasion techniques then none of the specific questions are tricky. You are given a list of possible questions as part of your prep, so do your homework.
it has an intimidating sound but relatively smooth and calm interview day. The people are amazing. all steps of the interview process were as stated. As long as you know your stuff it goes fairly smooth.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA) in Apr 2024
Interview
The interview process is long, intense, and weird.
I interviewed with the hiring manager first, and that was a very nice intro to what the position was about and the expectations.
I moved to the Power Day interview process where you get four people who must likely work on the same organization/team as they are hiring you, They give you two days where you chose your interview times. I do not recommend taking all of them on the same day since each interview is important for getting the job offer. In my case, break it into two days.
Case Interview: (Difficult)
They gave me an App Testing case where you need to break down the software/app release through an entire year and calculate the budget for a testing case. I did not do well because the interviewer guided me a lot, and I was confused for the first portion of the time. Also, it was broken into four parts, and I only performed two of them since there was not more time left of the one hour scheduled.
Behavioral:
It was fine, and the interviewer gave me three things to describe my experience. Please make sure you prepare your answer with the STAR method.
First Job Fit:
This one was weird since the interviewer did not ask me technical questions about the role but more open-ended questions.
Second Job fit:
This one was more technical and tested my knowledge of the role and the things I had listed on my resume.
I recommend preparing for the case interview and behavioral. Those are interviews that can impact their decision to offer you the job.
Job fitting interviews, make sure what you put in the resume you can speak about and give out real example.
