      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Capri Holdings (New York, NY)

      Interview

I was referred to HR by a current employee. I had an initial phone call which was more exploratory since the rep had received my resume but I hadn't yet applied to a specific role. The first contact I spoke with was very nice, and we identified a role that was newly created that would be coming down the pipeline in the next few weeks. As the person I was speaking with didn't cover that functional area, she said to follow up and she would connect me with the manager who did. Upon following up, I was connected with the internal recruiter hiring for the position I was interested in. We scheduled a phone chat, for what I **assumed** to be a phone-screener for that specific role. Unfortunately, it ended up being the exact same exploratory conversation as my first call, with the added "bonus" of this new recruiter not having any knowledge of the position I was interested in, despite literally being connected to me via email to discuss that role. Our conversation ended where it started, with recruiter #2 saying she would speak to recruiter #1 about the position and get back to me. This was very frustrating, as it seemed like a "who's on first situation" that wasted everyone's time. In addition, I inquired about another role and was told, despite my experience, that it was too senior for me. At the time I took it to mean that particular position was too senior. But when, finally, the company posted the original role I had been interested in, I followed up with recruiter #2 to reignite the conversation and was told it was too senior for me as well. She recommended a coordinator role, which was ridiculously out of line with my experience and compensation requirements. From my interactions with HR - without even going in to meet in person - the company came off as disorganized and messy. Worse, it seems their hiring mentality is literally "let's find a person who has been doing the exact same role at a different company." While functional experience is valuable, the company seems disinterested in doing any training or looking for transferable skills. I'd say this is one reason their financial performance has been poor - a lack of talent/diversity of opinions and leeching groupthink. If you value yourself and your experience I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for this company to value you.
