Before I go on about how this company interviews, in a 3 year period I have had 5-6 interviews for 3 different Shop Manager positions in my city and STILL not offered a position. And no it's not me... here's why:
Michael Kors interviews for Shop Manager positions are pretty standard... no trick questions or anything like that. They just ask you typical retail related questions. Here's the thing, you can have great answers, have a great rapport with the interviewer, arrive on time looking the MK part (fashionable and attractive), BUT, if you are not the "correct" race, they WILL NOT hire you. This is why they called me in so many times... I have a great resume, my name is not ethnic, and I guess they didn't assume my race. With the exception of my last interview, I applied for the job directly to the District Coordinators and not HR.
The last experience with them I applied through HR, had a Skype interview, and then met with the District Coordinator who lied and told me I was a perfect fit and would meet with her manager. I did not get that job and that was the last time I applied with this company. With a simple check on LinkedIn I found out the jobs I went for went to girls who did not even have half the experience I have, and yes, they are/were all white. Anyone can easily search the phrase Shop Manager on LinkedIn and see how many minorities they hire for this position. You'd see about 4 out of 100.
Michael Kors is discriminates across the board- retail and corporate. I have stopped applying and I do not support the brand by buying it's products.
